About

In 1991, two influential NBA figures from Denver had an idea. They wanted to help kids. They approached businessman Eddie Wedelstedt, proposing to donate Denver Nugget tickets to underprivileged children. Tim Leiweke (then executive VP of the Denver Nuggets) and legendary NBA trainer "Chopper" Travaglini simply wanted to start a ticket match program.

Wedelstedt, who was from humble roots and understood the need and value of such a program, offered 25 seats. Leiweke and the Nuggets matched that contribution for a total of 50 tickets.

Today, thanks to what started as a simple gracious gesture, more than 70,000 kids in the Denver, Los Angeles and Phoenix areas receive tickets to major sporting events, not only NBA games but NHL, North American Soccer League and university basketball games as well.

Eddie Wedelstedt has been the linchpin of helping underprivileged children. He has given money, time and, perhaps most importantly, his generosity, his big heart to help so many children learn the value of hard work and good citizenship and give them the chance to bond with their families.
