Over the years, we've had so many organizations help us, including the
Salvation Army, the Campfire Boys and Girls of America, the L.A. Boys and
Girls Club, Volunteers of America, the All Peoples Christian Center, the
Catholic Charities, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Families in New Directions and
the Korean Youth Community Center, just to name a few.
We also work closely with many deserving charities to help kids they
sponsor. For example, we help kids from the Colorado Christian Home, a
residential and day treatment facility that assists neglected and abused
children. These kids are referred to the center by the Department of Human
Services and the Department of Education. We're proud to be part of this
organization for many reasons, not least of which is their astounding success
rate. Almost 90 percent of the kids discharged from their facility go on to
lead healthy and productive lives.
We're also proud to sponsor the Catholic Charities' Kinship Care Program.
This program primarily helps grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
Most of these grandparents are living on fixed incomes. Kinship Care helps
more than 1,500 families every month and has more than 100 families
participating in its support group at any given time.
And those are just the nonprofit charities. We'd also like to thank other
organizations for their time, commitment and donations, including the Los
Angeles Kings, the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Avalanche and Kroenke Sports
Enterprises, not to mention the L.A., Denver and Phoenix public school
systems.
And over the years, they have thanked us in kind words and deeds.
And now, a few more words from our friends ...
"We are lucky to have [Eddie Wedelstedt's] leadership and the commitment of
all of the Eddie's Kids Foundation donors to keep providing these once in a
lifetime opportunities for these special people in our communities."
Paul D. Andrews, Sr. VP/CMO, Kroenke Sports Enterprises
"Your kindness continues to open the world of sports to so many kids who
otherwise never had the opportunity to experience the game of basketball [and]
your support has enabled our Sports Buddies to continue to be successful in
our goal of mentoring at-risk kids."
Kathryn T. Grainger, Head Coach, Sports Buddies Big Brothers and Big
Sisters of Colorado Inc.
"I believe this is the single greatest program in all of professional
sports that has an impact on kids' lives in a positive way and we commend you
for having the vision and passion that supports the effort."
Paul D. Andrews
"What we might take for granted these kids see as privilege. The tickets
are much more valuable than the prize printed on them. They are helping change
lives that might not have a chance otherwise."
Norman E. Moon, Denver Juvenile Community Assessment Center
